Preparing for Marriage
Couples are asked to contact the parish well in advance of their proposed wedding date. Preparation includes meeting with the priest, completing the necessary Church and civil paperwork, and participating in a recognised marriage preparation course.
This time of preparation helps couples reflect on the commitment they are making and prepares them for a lifelong partnership rooted in faith.
- Contact the parish at least 6–12 months in advance
- Meet with the priest to complete pre-marriage documentation
- Provide baptism certificates (issued within the last 6 months)
- Complete a recognised marriage preparation course
- Ensure all civil registration requirements are fulfilled

Weddings are typically celebrated on Fridays and Saturdays, depending on church availability.

Common Questions
How far in advance should we book our wedding?
It is recommended to contact the parish at least 6–12 months before your preferred wedding date to allow time for preparation and paperwork.
Do we need to complete a marriage preparation course?
Yes. Couples are required to complete a recognised pre-marriage course, which helps prepare them for married life.
Can we choose our own readings and music?
Yes. Couples are usually invited to choose readings, prayers, and music for their ceremony, in consultation with the priest and in keeping with Church guidelines.
Are there legal requirements as well as Church requirements?
Yes. Couples must also complete civil registration requirements in accordance with local laws. The parish can guide you through this process.
